Combining profound philosophy from the eastern background with expressive spirit from the western influence, I am highly capable of identifying wide-ranged values of designs from the practical to the visionary. Also with this combination, derives ample passions for design, and the ambition to achieve the sense of balance and objectivity.

As product designers, we often attempt to explore new value from existing things. To approach a “Convincing Form” is one of the most primary value I am eager to claim. Convincing form, from my viewpoints, must have one or more persuasive reasons to be like that and also it is derived from common perception which is familiar for many people. It is a sophisticated job and selective process to seek a suitable one. In other words, this language is sensible, perceivable and communicable. For me, this is the value and also the criteria of a design work.

Scientific researches suggest that people will have better impression on others when they hold warm stuffs like hot coffee cup. Also, people who hold warm things tend to treat others more generous. Accordingly, this project adapted the theory to the social media of communication - name card - for the purpose to enhance the quality of first impression. This is a name card holder containing warmer. Before we shake hands with new friends, our hands are warmed by the name card holder and therefore we ensure that new friends have better feeling with our touch. As a concept of open source, the way of making the holder is quite easy, instant and flexible. The materials, cardboard(paper), hand warmer, double side tape (glue), cuttable/soft metal sheet and the instruction, are required before making.

This concept considers blind people deserve the equal opportunity of postcard exchange. This concept want to establish meaningful communication for them by the original postal access. Although they normally need others' help to write the postal information, senders can convey their true regards and emotion by the rest of content. This postcard reveals the functional textures including the Stamp blank, Address line, Parting line and representative images, and the thin polystyrene sheet enables to write easily and keep Braille texts permanently. Receivers can touch and read the expression through the clear protruding texture and words. In the same way, foreigners are able to share the cultural difference by local images. The production of vacuum forming and injection molding on plastic sheets can make it. Accordingly, the printing ink is saved so the consumption of energy can be reduced as well.

This is a lighting design for the FUMI gallery. The concept was drawn from the principles of reflection with an idea to create specular light bulb reflections through the use of glass. While there is actually only one incandescent light bulb luminous inside the glass box, the reflection appears to be tens or even hundreds (depending on the observing angle) creating an image of a chandelier. The traditional Edison’s light bulbs are perhaps gradually becoming less practical for our current global conditions with the energy issues and pollution problems. However, the use of incandescent light bulbs is still attractive for some people for its warm, natural luminous ambience. Therefore, this design is a compromise for both matters.
